Influence of Humidity on Adsorption Performance of Activated Carbon

Activated carbon filter is the main equipment used to remove pollutants in ventilation system a nuclear power plant. Its function radioactive iodine minimize hazards against workers area. Periodic evaluation key step for verifying its operation effectiveness, further ensure safety and long-term operation. In this paper, by changing micropore structure surface chemical properties of activated carbon, physicochemical adsorption performance methyl iodide under high humidity working environment are studied. The results show that on organic compound decreases significantly conditions; however, combination potassium iodide, triethylene diamine functional groups form stable bonds new structure, which enhances stability makes it difficult pollutants. capacity can be restored 80.7% initial capacity, obviously improved.
